COOKS' AND STEWARDS' DISPUTE

AWARD FILED. '(Pen' Umitid Pbim Association.) WELLINGTON, April 17. The award filed in the federated cooks and stewards' dispute with the Union Company provides an increase in pay, ajid establishes the principle of a weekly halt-holiday for stewards. The request for an annual holiday on full pay was refused by the Arbitration Court, Mr M'Oullough dissenting. The hours of work at sea are 10 per day, to be worked within 15 hours from the time of commencement. Work in excess to be paid for at overtime rates —2s per hour and* Is for cadets. At terminal ports the hours of work are eight per clay. Provision is made for payment of work on Sundays and holidays. A clause provides against any acceptance by a worker under the award of tips Irom passengers.
