"HER GREAT MATCH"

Miss tlail Kane, ono of America's leading rtage stars, waa chosen by Metro as the leading woman in their striking dramatio offering, "Per Great Jvlatch," which will be the holiday attraction at the King's Theatre, commencing at tho matinee t.o-dav. and without question she scores a decided hit. Tho character in "Her Great Match" is especially well suited to her charm and talent. Jo, as the jgirl is known, does not belong to the scheming false set in which her stepmotfier moves, but is dragged into the whirlpool, bv the deceit and craft of her stepmother and her friends. When love comes to the girl she is ready to sacrifice all, and is almost called on to pay the price, but circumstances work in her favour, and happiness comes. The picture carries a clever satire and contrast between American democracy and European aristocracy. An American pafvenu is seeking to secure a title, ind tlie visit of a foreign prince seems to give him tho opportunity. A woman's weakness makes the way plain, but the manhood that is greater than birth or breeding in tl:e prince frustrates him. Tho visit pf a prince to New York dazzles the eyes "of fashionable New York, hut Jo Sheldon captures the attention and then the heart of the visitor. The prince is faced with the difficulties that surround a throne. If ho wishes to marry the American girl lie must abdicate and become a private citizen, or the girl must consent to become his morganatic wife—"a wife with all tho rights except the right- to be. queen." Tho girl refuses to take this position. Giving nil, she demands all, but later she finally consents. But the King of Stryvia attempts to win his son away from ~ the strnnjrp woman, only to drive the young fellow to desperation. He abdicates and escapes from his own country, returning to the one woman he loved. However, his father's spies try to keep the two separate, and finally ixse desperate measures, even attempting to take the life of the girl herself. The wince at last reaches her, and finds that the greatest kingdom of nil is the "kingdom of love." Fine supports are sho'vn with this feature film.
