CHRISTIAN BROTHERS' CARNIVAL.
There was another big attendance at His Majesty's Theatro last night, and excellent business was done at tho Christian Brothers' Carnival. An excellent programme was supplied by tho pupils of tho OUigo School of Dancing, and too final pull in die tug-of-'\var took place between tho Telegraph and Stevenson and Cook's (Fort Chalmer*) teams. It proved to be one of tho finest pulls ever seen in Dumedin. Tho Telegraph team gained about two inches advantage at tho jump, and though their opponents were stead>ly pulling- them back, they had half an inch to tho good at the finish. Both teams were loudly cheered. A comedy pull between teams representing bhe_ Old Boys' Circus and tho Indiana occasioned roars of laughter. To-night, tho final one of tho carnival, the various stalls will conclude their raffles, and everybody wishing to participate must have blocks and cash in the 'treasurer's hands by 8 o'clock. Tho returns for tho contest of queens will not be known tonight, tout will be published in the Otago Daily Times on Monday morning,_ and the coronation will take place on Friday, 9tih April. Tho four leading competitions last night were:—l, Children of Mary, South > Duncdin (Miss Noonan); 2, Refreshment Stall (Miss Brcnnan; 3, Old Boys' Stall (Miss Hart); 4, Hibernian. Stall (Miss Marlow).
