He said the sub-com-mittee set up to deal with tho matter had made a visit to Port Chalmers with the engineer, and inspected the site. _ The engineer had reported that in view of the necessity of having at some future : date to shift tho sheer legs it would be bad policy for the board to grant any lease of land jn the locality in question.. The sub-committee had suggested to the directors, of tho company, however, that they might approach some of the lessees of tho board's lands situated towards Boiler Point, , And''obtain a sub-loose of these lands. ! Tho chairman's statement was approved, And it was decided that the sub-epmmittee should, have power to act in any further aegotiations and roport to the board.
