Tho Lyttelton Marin© Band, which will take part in tho Do nod in Baud contest, 11011 arrivo to-day by the first express, and it has deaded to give a concert at at. Clair Pavilion on Sunday afternoon. Tina band is recognised as one of tho lending 1 bawls in the dominion, and tho public aro assured of hearing an excellent musical programme. . The bami contest to bo held in Dunedan, commencing on Monday next, promisee to be a jrroat success. Most of the visiting bands will arrivo to-day, and arrangements aro being made to welcome the visitors, and the local bands will play them through tho streets oa their arrival Tho contest will commence on Monday morning in tho Burns Hall, when tho E Flat Bas& Solos will bo heard, and in tho afternoon the BB Flat Bass Solos will kike place. At night the Mayor (Mr W. Begg)'will officially open the contest, after which tho first section of tho B Flat Cornet Championship Solo will bo hoard, and it will bo followed by tho Trombone Trios. r Jlic B Graclo selections will bo held in His Majesty's Theatro on Tuesday and Wednesday nights, the A Grade on Thursday and Friday nights, and on Saturday afternoon, at tho Caledonian Ground, the Grand Military Display and Quickstep contest will tako plnos. This will bo tho attraction of tho week, mid should attract a record atendaness On Wednesday afternoon tho Pipe Band contest will to hold at tho Caledonian Ground. It will consist of test selections and a quickstep contest, which should also prove a creat attraction. On Saturday night tho grand final demonstration will be held in His Majesty's Theatre, when the final in the B Flat Cornet Championship will tako place. Tho winnow of. the various competitions will also render items.
