ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES
George Gray, an employee at Messrs J. J. iN'iven and Co.'s foundry, Wellington, was admitted to the hospital on Friday afternoon suffering from very severe burna It uppears that shortly after noon Gray ivna discovered in the .foundry yard in a serious condition, his arms, body, and logs being badly burned. It is surmised that a flannelette singlet which Gray was wearing caught alight while he' wis leaning over a fire, but no ono actually witnessed the occurrence. 110 was unconscious when picked up, but several hours after his admission to tho hospitiil he regained consciousness. Gray, who is suffering from shock, and is in severe pain, was employee! as a .pattern-maker. A tragedy, presenting some mysterious features, was discovered this morning (ijavs Friday'o Grey mouth Star). It appears that Walter Stanley, who is employed at tho coal chutes, on opening a door at the chutes at 7.30 saw the body of a man propped up against tho wall in a eittb"position with a sack over his knees And another over tho shoulders. Constable Shannon was called, and it was found that the man dead. Tho deceased has been identified as Charles Larsen, aged about 40 years, who is well known as a.n o!d resident of Greymouth. Ho was employed as a wharf labourer.
