Dodds.—Anderson opened with the Guioeo Piano game, and by a rapid advance of tho queen's pawn, tho exchanges giving him; a strong centre, tho king bishop's pair was pushed on to tho fifth, blocking Dodds's bishop. Dodds exchanged a valuable bishop to double Anderson's pawn. Tho latter made, a brighter attack, and, his bishop and rooks being well posted, lie succoeded in exchanging Dodd's queen and pawn fur a rook and a bishop, tnereby winning tho game. Severne v. Lindsay.—Lindsay played tho Centre Counter, and both players developed ii. very sound position until move 12, when Severne won a pawu v Severne _ built up an attack, and could iriako no suitable opening.
