The Kaiapoi will probably leave Greymouth to-uay _on route for Wellington, and the Bamo is due. to leave Weetport for the same port. The Te Anau left Wellington last night for Dunedin. The G-reymcmth bar was still unworkable yesterday morning. The Rcsamondl is expected to leave to-day for Timaru and Dunedin. The Corinna is scheduled to leave Wellington on Monday for Timaru and Dunedin. The John, having completed her overhaul, will leave Wellington for Dunedin direct to- / day. She will load in return for Oamaru, : ' Timaru, and Wonganui. The Hinemoa, which steamed down to the Port early yesterdlay morning to bunker before proceeding southwards, discharged tho ► stores for Cape Saunders lighthouse into the ■ .ferry steamer Tarewai. These will be _ landed at Portobello and convoyed overland to' Cape Saunders. The Westmoreland will probably complete loading at Port Chalmers on Tuesday ,or 1 Wednesday, when she will sail for Timaiu to tabs in more frozen mutton. /, The Breeze will ba floated out of dock at Port Chalmers to-day, and the Maori will ■ go in on Monday.

The Mitsuki Maru, vritli oargo from Japan, arrived at Auckland at 0.45 a.m. yeeterdlay.
Officiate have announced that the complete programme of the. Shipping ..Board will include 1731 oil-burning- vessels with a capacity of 10,000,000 deadweight tons.
According to cable reports the ship Terpsichore has arrived at London from Wellington. The veaeel, which was loaded by the New Zealand Shipping Company, sailed from Wellington on July 26, Via the Cape Horn route.
The Shaw, Savill, and Albion liner Raranga is due -at Wellington from Newcastle on November 23.' The vessel is to load at Napier and Wellington, and! is to leave the latter port about the middle of December for London, via Panama.
The . Shaw, Savill, and Albion liner lonic is to leave Wellington to-diay for Lyttelton and Port Chalmers to discharge and load at both ports. She will then proceed to fill up at Timaru and Wellington, arriving back there about November 23, and is to Bail on the 28th for London, via Panama.
Lloyd's annual review of shipping states jthat at the end of June the largest tonnage was building that has ever been recorded, amounting to 4.766,623 tons, of which 2,033,319 tons were building in the United Kingdom. Lloyd's classifies 1151 vessels, totalling 3,801,221 tons, ocnstnicted during 1918-19, of which the United States constructed 470 veesals, totalling 1,883,759 tons; the United Kingdom 579, totalling 1,285,036 tons;. Japan 70, totalling 355,304 tons; and Canada 70, totalling 199,941 tona. Only 20 ferro-concreto ■yeesals were classified. Lloyd's has appointed a research committee to test the suggestion that a fluid cargo makes a ship sluggish, and also to test a ship in which the plates are electrically welded instead of riveted.
•The extensions of that already huge shipowiling concern with which Lord Inchoape is associated—the P. and 0. Steanx Navigation Company—continue year by year. The Shipping World states that the latest business to come under its control is that of the IChodivial Mail Steamship and Graving Dock Company, through the recent purchase of fcbe shares of the latter by a bank acting on behalf of the P. and O. Included in the '.assets are numerous graving-docks and repair shops in Egrpt, together with' a fleet of fast cargo and passenger steamers. Last year the P. andl 0. Steam Navigation Company acquired the shares in the MarcSntile Steamship Company, Ltd., owning half a dozen large cargo steamers, and, at earlier dates, took over the Hain Steamship Company, "Messrs Jaraes Nburae, Ltd., and the New Zealand Shipping Company.
DELAYED AT HEADS.
The Mokoia, when on her way down the coast, had a breakdown of her steam steering gear abreast of Timoru. The hand steering gear was immediately shipped!, and she continued her trip, arriving off the Otago Heads about 10 o'clock on Thursday night. She remained outside until daylight yesterday jnorning, when she steamed in, tendered by the tug Plucky, and was berthed at Port Chalme® to have the steam steering gear restored to working order. Her passengers cam® on to I>uncdm by the early trains. In consequence of the accident and cJoky the departure of the Mokoia for Auckland and East Cccst. porta has been postponed till Tuesday aftarncan. Toe Teasel brought tha
