Nosworthy (Minister to tho Tourist Department), * and pressed upon him tlio need of opening: up and developing the fongariro National Park by extending the ' area, including the Ketetahi. spring couiiwas ur ff°d that a hermitage smd cottages be erected, also that a board of control be set up. The Minister promised to support the request. He recognised the importance, of securing sociwc reserves. He did not at present favour a board, for he considered direct control by the department preferable The whole matter depended upon the funds made available.
