AVIATION.
■ ARMY EXPERT'S CRITICISM. COMMERCIAL PRACTICABILITY DOUBTED. Press Association—By *clegraph—Copyright LONDON, September 10. General Brancker (formerly Controllergeneral of Equipment in the British Air Force) declares that airships have not yet been proved commercially useful. R34's transatlantic performance was splendid, but it is not possible to compete with steamships. Commercial airships must be larger and faster, and must possess greater lifting power. Immense capital would be required to build them, and the money would .orobably not be forthcoming.—A. and N.Z. Cable.
