Lord Fisher, defending the introduction of the Dreadnought type of warship, claims that when building battle-cmisera we put down guns in manufacturers' books. "A3 to the order of Abdul Hamid, the Germans stole some wrong plans left on my table ao the Admiralty, and wasted £950 (? £950,000) on the job. Our policy was to have a big preponderance of speed and choose our own fighting distance. The naval blockade during the war was effective, despite some miserable' ineptitude.—Times.
