A Sydney cable message announces the death of Bishop Dunne, of Batburst The Hon. A. 1\ Hawko and Mr W. Russell lias announced (says a Wellington Press Association telegram) that Br Rangihiroa has been appointed Special Officer of Health for the Native race. His Honor Mr Justico Sim will proceed to Invercargill on Monday morning to hold the Supreme Court circuit sittings there Captain W. K Christie, of ltosiyn, who has been on active service since October 1915, reached New Zealand with tho Matatua s draft, and will arrive in Dunedin bv the train to-night. Mr \ ietor Galway, the newly-appointed organist for First Church, arrived in Wellington yesterday, and expects to reach Dunedin by train on Tuesday night. Mr Gulway will commence his duties on Sunday week.

Mr W. Adanis, formerly of the sfcail ot the Jiead office of the Bank of New Zealand, has been transferred to the Temuka branch of the bank.

Gunner Jack Scollay, R.A.N., who arrived in Wellington on H.M.S. New Zealand on Wednesday, came on to Dunedin last evening for a few days' furlough, after serving four years in the Australian Navy. Seaman Scollay was one of tho party which boarded tho limdon after her engagement with tho Sydney. A Press Association message from Grevmouth states that Mr Duncan M'Lean, merchant, a West Coast pioneer, died yesterday, aged 85 years. He was one of the contractors for the Midland Railway with the late Mr Joseph Jay. His wife'died a few weeks ago.
