It is expected that a settlemnet -will ba reached during the week-end. MELBOURNE, August 22. It is unofficially stated that two seamen have been despatched to Pre mantle to place the men's case before Mr W. M. Hughes, who is to arrive there on Saturday.
ihe seamen's loss of -wages now amounts to £362,000.
A HOPEFUL SIGN. WORK ON MONDAY ANTICIPATED'. SYDNEY, August 22. (Received Aug. 22, at 11.15 p.m.) The Trades Hall is optimistic regarding tho strike situation. It is believed that the negotiations in Melbourne -will result in a settlement.
