PUBLIC EXPENDITURE ON PRIVATE LAND.
TO THE EDITOB. Snt, —Your explanation regarding- the expenditure of public money on private property at Sandymount is non-committal. I stated in my letter that a sand-drift off the property of one man on to that of another was being planted with marram grass at the public expense. I emphasise that statement now, mid am prepared to show the work to anybody interested. Will you deny that such is the case?—l am, etc., J. J. Nthon-. [The publication of the above has been delayed through the letter having been overlooked. The official explanation of the expenditure is that the drift of the sand is from Crown land on to private property. — ED. O.D.T.].
