AMUSEMENTS. A CHALLENGE. To T. O'Brien, Manager Octagon Hall, Queen's, and King Edward Picture Houses. It has been brought to our notice that you had circulated round the suburbs of Dunedin, referring to the "Better 'Ole" picture, a pamphlet in which tho following appears.-— "Note.—No arrangement has been made for tho screening of this great subject in, any of the smaller halls around Dunedin. M This was undoubtedly done with the idea of discrediting 80-Peep Pictures, at present at St Kilda and Roslyn; that we were ' fooling our patrons"—in other words, we were advertising that this picture was coming to our houses, but had made no arrangements, which, if true, would amount to fraud on our part. ■ We hereby challenge you £25, to be paid to tho Soldiers' Building Fund, for you to prove this statement: "that no arrangement hadi been made." We might point out to v°n, sir, that your actions will in no way affect the popularity of our St Kilda and Roslyn picture houses. We might also add, if you do not already know it, tha± we have brought pictures to Dunedin that have made a name for themselves in a few weeks. For instance, at the Coronation Theatre, St. Kilda, today and to-night, wo screen an actress who has been proclaimed by many to be the greatest artist seen on the screen. That is Mary Miles Minter, in "The Mate of Sally Ann" ; and again, at Roslyn to-day, a picture that is as wonderful as it is weird—"Man and Beast." Yours, etc., 80-PEEP PICTURE ENTERPRISES.
