Mr Rose, Labour M.P. for Aberdeen North, has quitted the Labour Party until Mr Neil MTLean, who was censured by the party for refusing to stand during the singing of the National Anthem in the House six weeks ago, resigns his post as Whip to the Labour Party—A and N.Z. Cable.
Tkf mcident which led to the censure of Mr MLean, Labour member for the Oovan division of Glasgow, occurred on June 30 on the return of Mr Lloyd George after the signing of the Peace Treaty. llie parliamentary correspondent of the ijaily Chronicle, describing Mr Lloyd Georges welcome in the House of Commons on that occasion, saye that all the Ooaiition members rose to their feet, cheering themselves hoarse, waving papers oood handkerchiefs and shouting in an ecstacy of delight. A few Opposition members also rose, doubtless in recognition of the Premier, not as party leader, but as the chief of the nation. Other* of the Opposition took the ordinary party line and remained seated, but the rest of the House would not have this, and shouted, " Stand up! in no persuasive manner, and one by one most of the Opposition began to stand up. Several of the stalwarts, however, still remained seated.
