OTAGO HUNT
The hounds met at Highcliff on Saturday afternoon, under favourable conditions This was the second occasion on which this dis trict has beeii hunted this season, and profit mg by the difficulties experienced on the nre vious occasion, an entirely new line of country was mapped out, which proved satisfactory for the followers. Shortly after the appointed hour the hounds were cast at the reai- of Mr R. Brunton's homestead After a slight delay, the pack caught un 06 ?* , -!? mov ? d off in a direct line to Mr A- Henderson's farm. After crossing a post and rail and a couple of et ono wal g the trail continued on in tlie direction of the lomahawk La-goon. The pace by this timo was fairly good. Tho trail then took a turn to the right, crossing nice jrrassv paddocks to Mr Smail's farm, on to tho Tomahawk road, then striking duo west im the hill to the Highcliff roSd, "Shero th? hounds were checked. Three riders wero unseated, but fortunately no one- was hurt It was quite an interesting gathering o f followers and spectators. The latter selected an exceUent viewpoint under the pinnacle above the HighohlE road, and overlooking the whole of tho ground tl'at was hunted At tho conclusion of the- hunt an adiourn' ment was made to Mr llobortson's residence whero a, welcome cup of tea was provided' after which an hour was spent in song and story.
