PROVE ALL THINGS

To win a wager, an English marquis stood on London Bridge and offered sovereigns for five shillings. He could not find a customer. It's not to be wondered at; the publio look askance at any proposi. tion when the person is apparently a financial loser, without direct or indirect gam. Fraudulent schemes have often been suecessful, but in these days sceptics want bet-' ter proof than the word of a marquis. No evidence can be stronger than testimony such as this: — Mr R. Coulter , , Phihp street, Kensington, Dunedin South, says:—"Some five years ago, when working as a butcher .and slaughterman, I suffered terribly from an aching back. A friend, advised me to tak-a Kidney Pills, so I got a bottle to try. them. The result was marvellous. After using half the bottle the pain was a good deal easier, and by the tune I had finished it I was cured, all signs of backache having entirely disappeared. My cure, I am pleased to say, has proved permanent, for I have been free of backache since I gave up taking Doan's Backache Kidney Pills about five years ago." Three years later, Mr Coulter says:—"l have not suffered -with backache since Doan's Backache Kidney Pills cured me eight years ago. This remedy, cures to 3tay cured, and is splendid for backache and other kidney ailments." Doan's Backache Kidney Pills are sold by all chemists and storekeepers at 3s per bottle (six bottles 16s 6d), or will be posted on receipt of price by Foster-M'Qellan Co., 76 Pitt street, Sydney. But, bo sure yea get DOAN'S.

An experiment with sulphur gas has been made near Reading by the new Rat branch of the Board of Agriculture. Two machines pumped .sulphur dioxido into the rat runs, and about 501b of Silician rock sulphur was used, at a cost of about £2. Over 100 rats managed to leave their holes and died, and many hundreds must have been killed underground. Coal will be dear this winter. You can save many hours' firing by serving delicious C.M.C. Sheep Tongues once or twice a week. They eave cooking and take but a minuto to serve. C.M.C Tongues are as rich and nutritious as freshly-cooked meats, while tho reduced prico makes them most economical to buy. Try -them! g
