«&. RAILWAY WORKSHOPS DESTROYED. EFFECT ON RAILWAY CONSTRUCTION. (Per United Pbess Association.) TAUKANGA, June 20. Tho Pnblio Works Railway Workshops at Mount Monganui was to-day totally destroyed by fire. There were no means of fighting the outbreak, and the building, which was of wood and iron, was quicldy destroyed, together with much valuable machinery. The outbreak apparently occurred in the vicinity of the boiler. The engineer was absent in tho_ valve shop. Tho value of the machinery is not ascertainable, but must amount to several thousands of pounds. The loss is bound to have an effect on tho construction of this portion of the East Coast railway.
