Waon Otrn Owh Cobebspoxdhht ) rpu , ALEXANDRA, May 26. The annual meeting of the Central Otago iiuitgrowers Association was held here on Friday. J-here was a good attendance of members, with two visitors from the Teviot E ' T ". Kitto was re-elected president for the ensuing- vear. The local association supported tho Dunedin Association in protesting against tho Grown rangers being sent to inspect and value orchard property under offer to returned soldiers. . e local association recommended that tho inspection bo made by the Crown ranger and Government Orchard Expert, acting jointly. A remit was sent forward to tho I rovmcial Conference, to be held in Dunedin shortly, recommending that the Government bo urged to lift the embargo on the importation of fruit trees from Australia. At a largely-attended meeting on Saturday evening a trotting club was formed, to be known as the Otago Central Trotting oiub. _ Support was promised from all over the district, and residents representative of the various parts of Otago Central, from Arrow-town to Roxburgh and down the railway Ime to Middlemarch, were elected omcers. Mr A. Anderson was elected president, _ with Sir W. Fraser as patron. An eftort is bornj made to secure a totalisator permit. Th® first of. the football flag matches was played on tho local recreation ground between Alexandra and Clyde. Alexandra jwm by 6 points to 3.
