(Peb United Phes3 Associatioh.J Tim r> May 24. -the City Coimcil, at a special meeting, received a report by Mr Ferguson, C.EL. who reported that the valuation of tho tramway was not excessive at £1,180,000 for rights and assets as a going concern. Tho council decided to confirm the resolution authorising- the purchase, and authorised a poll to secure £1,250,000 to finance the undertaking ' In Supreme Court, George' Dale and Jamas Gilmour were sentenced to five years' imprisonment each for an attempt to commit a serious offence at Rotorua.
