SOLDIERS CLUBHOUSE

OPENED AT TRENTHAM. RED CROSS SOCIETY PRAISED. (Pbjs Uiuted Pbess Associatioh.) WELLINGTON, May 21 Iliis afternoon the Governor-General opened the new soldiers' clubhouse in the hospital grounds at Trent-ham. The building was originally constructed for use as a hospital ward from funds subscribed by residents of Wairarapa, but subsequently was handed over to the Red Cross Societv which has converted it into a very comfortable clubhouse.

In declaring the club opened Lord Liverpool congratulated all the Red Cross workers in New Zealand on the great work they had accomplished. During the war he had been told by General Richardson of the work the society had done for New Zealand soldiers in England, and he applauded the noble work.
