AMERICAN DELEGATES APPOINTED. LONDON, February 8. _Mr Fraser . America" has selected Mr William mite, Mr Ketsas U Republican Progressive), and Professor Herron (a Socialist). CONFERENCE FOREDOOMED TO FAILURE. IDEALISM BOWS TO THE PRAC TICAL.
_ _ PARIS, February 10. rhere is little hope of the success of the Sea of Marmora Conference scheme solving the Bolshevist problem. So far the anti-BoJshevist Governments refuse to go to the Marmora Conference, and only the Bolshevist leaders agree to it, while they agree apparently with a view to neootiatinsr with the delegates of the Allies But M. Pichon (French Foreign Minister) informed the journalists in Paris that if the Lolshevists imagine this is the view ol the Peace Conference they are mistaken, as the meeting has always been intended to be merely a conversation between the I divided Russian Powers, with a view to their submitting a basis of agreement to the Entente, and it can by no means be regarded as a conference betwene the Entente and Russia. The only the Bolshevists express go to it suggests th e complete failure of the project, and makes another scheme necessary,- the details of which are being anxiously awaited in many quarters.
The breakdown of the project must also be regarded as a blow to President Wil- ««• belief that' such questions may be settled by a compromise bared on idealism. Seemingly the Russian differences are too acute for compromise and too bitter for idealism. France is particularly interested in all this, seeing that she agreed very reluctantly to meet Bolshevhalfway at Marmora.—A. and NZ Cable. ' "
