Drunkenness.—William Logan was convicted and discharged on a charge of drunkenness on condition that a prohibition 1 order was issued against him. Donald M'Donald, with five previous convictions was fined £2, in default, three days' impri-sonment.-—James Cosselis, with two previous convictions, was fined 20s, or 48 hours. , Theft.—Thomas Edward i'orsyth '• was charged with breaking and entering the dwelling-house of William Baker on January 24 and stealing therefrom a gold and diamond ring valued at '£11 6s, the property of William Baker.—On the application of fcjubiiispector Mathieson the charge was reduced to one of theft, and the accused was also charged "with stealing '£1, the property of Elizabeth Bull, on January 24.—Accused pleaded guilty to both charges, and was convioted and ordered to come up for sentence when called upon, and to be placed under the supervision of Mr Axelsen, an order being made for the return ot the stolen property, which i had been recovered. William James Duncan pleaded guilty to-the theft at Dunedin on January 24 of three pairs of boots, valued at £3 13s 6d, the property of May Mathieson stated that accused had been wearing one pair of the boots, and the others had been returned.
