AMUSEMENTS.

A powerful attraction is a* present being provided at the Octagon and King Edward Theatres, where a drama of life and love is screened under the tiUe"sf "The Marionettes." Miss Clara Kimball Young, the well-known actress, plays the leading role with great skill, investing the part with a very real artistio charm. The picture, which is well supported, is sure to prove exceedingly popular throughout the whole of the present week. It will be shown at both theatres again to-night. "Soldiers of Chance," the leading dramatic attraction, at the Queen's Theatre, continues to- provide large audiences with entertainment. A further number, of "The Fatal Bing" ' (serial) and a good topical subject complete the programme. At the Plaza. Theatre "The Yankee Way" is an interesting dramatic, with George Walsh in the chief role. A Mutt and Jeff cartoon and a new instalment of the "Do Children Count?" series complete an excellent . programme. "Aladdin and His Wonderful Lamp" is shown at the matinee only. This is one, of the best pictures of its kind ever titrown on the screen.

A World drama, "The Beautiful Mrs Reynolds," featuring , June Elvidge, is proving a popular attraction at Everybody's Theatre. The other subjects are an American Pathe news film, a Topical Budget, and the tenth chapter of "The Scarlet Eunner." The change of programme at the King's Theatre is attracting good attendances. The star fihn is "a Fox production entitled "Tangled lives," in -which Genevieve Hamper plays a leading: part. The story is an exceedingly pretty one, and is unusually well told. Tom Mix, the cowboy comedian, appears in the same bill in some hairraising equestrian feats, whilst a Mutt and Jeff cartoon completes the programme. "Nan of Music Mountain," the star of •which ia Wallace Reid, of Paramount fame, will be shown at the Empire to-day. It is a Western story, fall of thrills from start to finish, but has many entirely new angles, and contains a love story of the most romantic interest. De Spain's father has been treacherously shot. De Spain sets out to "get" the murderer, only to find that it is the uncle'and guardian of the girl he loves.. It is a good story. The supporting pictures will include a comedy, a Burton Holmes travelogue ("In Classical Greece"), and the latest American travelogue.
