We have been, drawing attention to this danger in your columns for the kst 40 years, and we may state that cheap adulterated lemon squash is only produced at the expense of tho quality of the article. Tho general adulterations of these cheap artifloia l lomon squashes are: Cyanide, saffron, tarmerio, safflower, cubbear, carmind, fuclrne, yellow aniline dyes of all shades, anatto, saccharine, beet sugar, molasses, glycerine, glucose, maple, biroh, and cheap* low grades of unrefined sugars, linseed, gum tragacanth, corpulose, saxine', acacia gum, tartario acid, acetic acid, cream of tartar, phosphorio and mineral acids, formio aldehyde, benzoic acid, beta-naph-thol, benzoate of soda, sulphuric acid, boracio acid, calcio sulphite, formaline bisulphite of lime, magnesium, bisulphite, metasulphite of potassium, alum, methylated spirits, ammonium, acetate, fluorine compounds, pyroligneons acids, kalarada, volata, and minoka juices, French cream gum, formine, essence of lemon, orange lime.
