"HEARTS OF THE WORLD."

Thai powerful and realistic film spectacle " Hearts of the World," which created such a favourable impression when shown here some weeks ago, has come back to Dunedin for a brief return season, and it was screened _ again at His Majesty's Theatre last evening before a very large audience. It also had a phenomenally successful season in Wellington _ In the past the public has had some experience of what can be achieved by the kinematograph in the way , ' of producing extraordinarily realistic effects, but " Hearts of the World" surpasses all previous efforts in this direction, and it can be characterised only as a wonderful picture. Essentially a war subject, it brings vividly before the eye scenes of battle on the western front, scenes that thrill the spectator with a sense of their realism. Groat bodies of troops are shown in action, division after division of infantry and squadron upon squadron of cavalry push rapidly forward; batteries of artillery fire as frequently as the guns can be handled; tanks and aeroplanes and the various engines of modern warfare appear on the screen,, all playing their part in the great fight for freedom that -went on ceaselessly night and day on the western front for upwards of four years. The scenes of desolation and destruction wrought by the Germans in wantoness of heart are pathetio in the extreme, and cannot but leave a feeling of deep gratitude that our arms triumphed over so foul a foe.. Interwoven with the stupendous iyar spectacle is a story containing a very vital love interest, and this commends the closest attention right throughout its course. The screening of "Hearts of the World" is rendered doubly enjoyable as a means of entertainment by the very fine musio of the orchestra, the selections being admirably selected and most appropriate. "Hearts of the World" will be shown at a matinee this afternoon, and also in the evening, the latter session commencing at 7.50 p.m. It will also bo shown for three nights next week, and there will be a final matinee on Wednesday.
