WAIKOUAITI ATHENÆUM

The annual meeting of the subscribers to the Waikouaiti 'Athenaeum was held on Monday evening, Mr N. Stewart (chairman) presiding. The revenue derived from entertainment in the Public Hall had decreased considerably, but this loss was more than counterbalanced by the increased rental from the endowment During the year ,there were taken out 25 annual subscriptions, 14 half-yearly, and 35 quarterly, making a total of 74, and SO new books had been added to the library. The balance sheet showed the receipts to have been £274 ISs 6d, and' the expenditure £257 10s 4d, leaving a credit balance of £17 5s 2d.
