WAR LOANS

OVER FORTY MILLIONS RAISED EN

DOMINION.

(Pi* United Pbess Association.) AUCKLAND, January 6. In a statement published' a few days ago the Hon. Mr Myers, acting Minister of Finance, stated that the New Zealand War expenses to November 30, 1918, amounted to £54,000,000, and the war loans to date to £64,000,000, ' the interest and sinking fund to the latter sum being about £3,500,000.

On being interviewed to-day, Mr Myers stated that of the £64,000,000 borrowed, £1,110,000 had been raised at 3£ j>er cent., 4| millions at 4 per cent., 384 millions at 4j per cent:, and 19£ millions at 5 per cent. He added that 22£ millions had been raised in London, and 4l£ millions in_ New Zealand. The amount of the loans raised in New Zeaalnd , for war purposes from April 1, 1918, to the 18th ult., was ( a little over 14 millions, while for other parposes 1£ millions had been subscribed.
