LISBON, December 17.' (Seceived Dec. 18, at 8 p.m.) Serhor Paes'a assassin, Rodrigues Dearo, is a commercial traveller. Hβ begged the crowd to give him time to make a con-> fession. He declares that he originated the plot, which extended to Oporto, where another gang awaited the President. During the commotion following the firing the commandant of the Lisbon garrison was t killed and 12 persons were wotnided.
The public parade the streets, crying " Death to the traitors."
Dγ Camanho, leader of the Unionists in the Chamber of Deputies, and Senhor Magalhaes Lima, leader of. the Republicans, have been arrested. A letter addressed to Senhor Lima, was found on, Senhor Paes"s assassin.—Times.
