GREASY WOOL FOR THE ALLIES.
UNION SECRETARY'S COMPLAINT.
4— (Pee United Press Association.) CIIRISTCHUROH, October 24. Last week Mr Mlis, secretary of the Freezing- Works Employees and 'Allied Trades Union telegraphed to several Ministers complaining that hall a million bales of best greasy wool were being shipped to America and Canada for treatment there instead of being treated in New Zealand. Mr Massey, as Minister in Charge of,lmpciial Supplies, has sent tho following reply:— 44 r iho information supplied to you regarding the shipment of wool to America and Canada is very much exaggerated. The directions which have been received from the Imperial Government with regard to a certain quantity of wool to Allied countries and Canada refer to wools unsuitable for scouring in this dominion. No arrangement has been made the Canterbury woolscourefs for dealing with an extra quantity of wool during' the coming season; but it is probable that the quantity of wool available for scouring will be quite equal to the largo quantity dealt with dnriiig last season."
