ASSISTING THE OFFENSIVE. LONDON, October 12. Sir Douglas Haig's aviation report states : Our low-flyers bombed and ma-ohine-gunned parties of German infantry and transport, dropping nine lons, and inflicting casualties. Night-flying was impossible. * ENEMY AND BRITISH LOSSES. A COMPARATIVE STATEMENT. - Australian and N.Z. Cable Association and Router. LONDON, October 13. Tho Press Bureau reports that 548 German aeroplanes were destroyed or disabled on the western front in September, and 59 balloons were destroyed. On the other hand 23 (?) British machines are missing. These figures are exclusive of heavy casualties inflicted by the Independent Air Force and the British coastal squadrone in raids in Germany and Belgium.
