EMPIRE THEATRE
A seven-act Metro production is the outstanding feature in the new programme at. the Empire Theatre. Joline (Nazimova), while dancing a wild bacchanal dance in a cabaret in tho Latin Quarter of Paris, is sketched by a struggling; American artist named Paul Granville (Ohas. Hryant). joline has a very generous side to her nature, and discovering Paul's condition, poses for him without fee or reward in many interesting characters, much to the disgust and rage of her "Apache" lover Duclos. Paul becomes inspired by the beauty of his model, and rapidly achieves success. Then a wealthy artist named Do Roche upsets matters_ badly by commissioning Paul to paint a picture of "The Madonna of tho Rosebud," his object being to separate Paul ami Joline. Paul is painfully conscious that Joline is not suitable for the subject, which leads to the departure of the pair for the monastery Here tho mystical enters into the story, which after many exciting .adventures is brought to a happy climax.
