PATRIOTIC WORE. .The Roslyn-ICaikorai Red Cross and! / Patriotic Association has sent the following" completed work from Thursday's sewing" meeting:—To the Early Settlers' Hall: : 4 pairs pyjamas, 4 balaclavas, 1 flannel shirt, 1 handkerchief, 2 pairs mittens, 1 muslin, shirt, 3 shirts. 12 service bags, 2 pairs socks. . To the Red Cross: 4 pairs pyjamas, 2 bala- * clavas, 1 handkerchief. 3 shirts, 2 flajuiel shirts. 2 pairs socks. Contributions for Tha ; Red Cross shop on Saturday will be gladly received. Fifty-nine balaclava caps, 225 pairs of,, socks, 40 shirts, and 2160 wrappers weraj sent last week to the Early Settlers' from the Mornington Council Chambers fop the reinforcements. The Methodist Ladies';:- 1 ' Guild sent 5 woollen shirts, 4 pairs of socks,' and 52 wrappers, and the - Ladies sent 204 wrappers. 10 pairs of socks, and 1 balaclava cap. Gifts of flowers, jam, eg-zs, vegetables, cakes, scones, pickles, etc.. will be gratefully received at the Council Oham.bein to-day and on Friday from 3 ' o'clock to be sold at the stall at Hallenstein's corner on Saturdnv for comforts and food for the Maori soldiers at the front. As tliis is the first appeal 011 behalf of thov Maoris it is hoped that the ladies will " respond in tlieir usual generous way. - * SOLDIERS SENTENCED. For desertion and loss of equipment when, under orders for active service. Private W. M'Combie, Details (late II Company, Fortyfirst Reinforcements), has .been sentenced by District Court-martial at Trentham to 90 flavs' detention and stoppage of pay,, £6 5s 4d. For desertion when under orders ' for active service, Private S.< P. Detnils (late D Company, Forty-second V Reinforcements), has been sentenced to 112 V: days' detention. - THE RED CROSS FUND (OTAGOX / THE OTAGO DAILY TIMES LIST.
