"THE BABES IN THE WOOD."

r Tales of witches, fairies, of enchanted y princes, of cruel stepmothers, have en- .' thralled _ generation after . generation from s the earliest times down to the present day, _ and will probably thrill as long- as tho e world rolls on. That these tales have 3 a 'widespread appeal to-day was shown re--1 cently during the presentation of "Tho Babes in tho Woods" at the Globe Theatre 3 ' in New York City. Every afternoon for many, months' children, packed the house, j and in the evening the older people, earn© j m crowds. These old stories have had for 3 long years a strong hold on William Fox. I Ho longed to hear the>m when a child and s to tell them to his children in later years, j He believed they would make a strong _ appeal in picture form. He did not misjudge human nature. For tho crowds that flocked to see "Tho Babes in tho ' Wootis" wherever shown were a pleasing 1 testimonial to Mr Fox for his original effort m beginning the picturisation of tho fairy tales. His fine discrimination in producing such a delightful fairy film as " The Babes ' m tho Woods' has given much prestige to ' Mr Fox's name, and many even look upon ' him as a benefactor in these days when hearts are heavy with world war. All next week " The Babes in tho Woods" will be screened at the King's Theatre, commencing on Saturday next, and for the > special benefit of those children who attend , scnool the management has arranged to i start one of the sessions each afternoon j ( so that all children mav have the oppor- J . tunity of attending after school hours. The 1 i big film is 8000 ft in length, and appeals 1 , equally to grown-ups' as well as to the youngsters. s • < i ■ 5
