METHODIST MISSION MEETINGS.

There was a good attendance at the annual aome mission meeting m connection with the Metnodist Central Mission, held in the Social ilali, Uetagon, last evening, wnen the Jttev. C. Eaton presided. Pastor iNicholk, of the SoutH Dunedin Baptist (Jiiorcli, spoke of his experiences as a home missionary in the backblocks of the North Island, dwelling on the great need for religioUo ministrations in tlicsc remote country districts. Soios were sting by Misses A din lorr&nce, and Jacobs, and plentiiul refreshments were provided by the ladies of the congregation. At tne i>undas Street Methodist Church meeting there was a good attendance, despite the inclemency of the weather. The Itev. W. J. Oxbrow presided. Mr 0. S. > Pearn, of Kaitangata, delivered an address and gave an interesting account of home missionary work as conducted in various parts of the dominion. The St. Kilda Choir provided the musical part of the programme, and the various items 'were greatiy appreciated. The home missionary funds will benefit considerably as .a result of the meeting. The Caversham Methodist Church meeting was fairly well attended. The Rev. Griffith, who presided, _ stated that the purpose of the home mission fund was the evangelising of the Maoris and church extension generally," especially in the backblocks and new and growing settlements. In view of the urgent need for funds under war conditions, Conference had asked for a substantial increase of revenue. The Rev. W. A. Hay, as" speaker of the evening, gave an eloquent and stirring address on ,? 01d John Brown, whose soul goes marching on." A programme of music was provided bv the Cargill Road Ohoir, under the leadership of Mr G. T. Heathcote, and .solos were given by Messrs Heathcote and O'Neil, and a duet bv Messrs SteDhens hmt.Vioi-c ,
