OVAL RESERVE PAVILION

Reports presented at a meeting of tho executive arranging the sports gala and entertainment to raise funds for the erection of dressing accommodation on the Oval indicate a very general support for the movement, and a promise of big attendances °, n Saturday at the sports at Carisbrook and the entertainment in His xViajesty's Theatre Several thousands of tickets will have been distributed by noon to-day. The St. Kilda Municipal Band will .play from the Octagon au 2.30 p.m., and during the afternoon at the ground. At 2 p.m. and 2.15 p.m me Mormngton and High Street School Bands will marc-h from the Octagon, and the Forbury School Band will leave the school at 2.15 p.m. and march to tho ground. Strong teams representative of the best Rugby, hockey (men's and ladies'), and Soccc-r will play matches, and the entries for the 100 yards and mile running events indicate keen contests. Arrangements have been made with Mrs Beatson for the serving of afternoon tea. Mr H. Harris was appointed director of sports. Messrs R. Benriell, W. R. Sinclair, and E. S. Wilson were appointed trustees of the fund. The City Corporation's Reserves Committee wrote agreeing to receive a deputation at its next meeting. Mr Bennell reported that the services of leading entertainers had been readily jiven for the entertainment in aid of the soject.
