"STOLEN HOURS."
There> are some very dramatic situations in the World drama, ''Stolen Hours." commencing at tho Octagon and King Edward Theatres to-day. The loading lady is the ever-popular Kthel Clayton, who in this picture takes the part of a daughter of a professional gambler. In spite of her rearing and environment she remains unsullied although decidedly unconventional, impulsive, and fearless. Her father's gambling house is raided by the police ohe escapes and also aids a young stranger to do so. He had visited the place unconscious of its nature, and had ho been caught his brilliant career as a member of Parliament would have been ruined. But it came near to ruin notwithstanding, becauso he falls in love with the gambler's daughter. .There is an impassablo barrier between them, bub to reveal the nature of it would spoil tho story. Through many vicissitudes however, they at last win their way to happiness. Tho play is strong in dramatic value and holds the interest unfailingly to the last, whilo some of tho situations are distinctly unconventional. "The Drifters," an interesting series of pictures, beautifully produced, showing naval operations not previously exhibited, will also be screened. It will include the raid on the Belgian coast; the S'wift and Broke in action (the amazing feats of these boats will be remembered by all). The picture is said to show a new light on the accounts of naval actions, and enable one to form a much more vivid idea of such performances as the scaling up of Zeebrugge and Ostend. Many of the scenes are taken actually under fire. The box plan is at the Bristol.
