BAND OF HOPE UNION

ANNUAL CONCERT. The annual concert of the Otago Band of Hope Union -was held in the Jubilee Hall last evening. Notwithstanding tho inclemency of tho weather, there was a big crowd of children and their parents, and tho applause which they accorded to all the young entertainers proved that the concert was thoroughly enjoyed bv them. Mr S G. Griffith presided, and in the course of a Zu , a^. ress .° ave tn e young people mnch helpful adfiee and encouragement in their decision for the temperance cause. Tho programme contained a very long list of items, and, although no encores were allowed, it wae quite late enough when the young folk had applauded the last item and sung a verse of the National Anthem. The following members of tho various Bands of Hope in the city took part in the programme:—Pianoforte solo, Miss Daphne Stokes; solos—Misses Dorothy S'tentiford Olive and Rita Mason, Gladys Peterson, K Kn.owles, J. Ledgerwood, L. Heazlewood Beulah Kincc, and Masters Stanley Yeoman and Errol Hamilton: recitations Misses Katie Smith, Maggie Watt, Rita Jennings, Molly Williamson. Gladys Grace V. O'Donnell, and Masters David Thomson' Dick Johnston, Ernes* Logan, Joe Rueeell and M. M'Alister. Five dialogues bv Missrs Nita Winkel and Hazel Miller and members of the Caversham, Glenaven Trinity, and North-East Valley Bands of Hope, and choruses by the St. Andrew juniors and the Hanover Street Band concluded tho programme.
