SOLDIERS' MEMORIAL CLUB

A meeting of the executive of the Soldiers' Memorial Club Fund was held on Wednesday night The Mayor occupied the chair.

The Returned Soldiers' Association wrote stating that the rules and constitution for the Soldiers' Memorial Club were considered by mombors. Tho rules were passed, and also the foliowiug recommendation: '• That provision be made in the new club for offices suitable for the Returned Soldiers' Association, the use of such offices to be left in the hands of the incoming committee of the olub." It was resolved that the rules be sent to the Anzac Club Committee with tho intimation that they had been considered by the Returned Soldiers' Association and the Soldiers' Memorial Club Executive, and it was also decided to recommend that provision be made in the plans for office accommodation for the Returned Soldiers' Association. The Secretary submitted a report regarding methods for raising money for the club; but it was resolved to hold this matter over for a fow weeks on account of the appeals being made on behalf of the Otago Women's Patriotio Association and the Red Cross Society. In the meantime sub-committees have been appointed to go fully into the various matters with a view of making a start immediately these other societies have concluded thoir appeals. Dr Harrison and Colonel Moir were added to the committee. The New Zealand Bowling Association wroto enclosing a cheque for £50, as a donation to tho club. Mr G. B. Laidlaw forwarded a copy of a composition, "The Battle Line," for piano, violin, and cornet, which he was willing to hand to the committee for sale if it so desired.—Hie matter was left in the hands of Messrs Ronnie and Bennell for report.
