Thfl 1914 Star is to bo ifsur.-d to a'l soldiers of tho British and Indian forces, including civilian medical practitioners, nurses, and others employed with military hospitals, who served in J'Yanco or Belgium with a British unit botwowi tho outbreak of war and midnight of November 22-23, 1914. It appears that at least 70 New Zoalandors who wcro in Europe at tho time qualified for the decoration. Of these, unfortunately, a considerable number have sine* been killed. From tho records kept in the London oliko of the Otago Daily Times the following lists have been compiled, the first containing tho names of New Zealand soldiers who have since been killod bdt whose relatives nevertheless will receive the star, and tho second, those still on service.
