PLAZA THEATRE

Attractive and well varied programmes continue to be submitted to the public by the management o£ the Plaza Theatre, whero large attendances were the order of the clay yesterday. The principal feature of the latest series to bo shown at this theatre is a London Film Company's production, en-

ii d "The Middleman," an adaptation of the of . the same name from the pen of Sir 11. A. Jones. The story is a thrilling one, full of powerful and dramatic situations, and the plot is well conceived, all the incidents being well within the bounds of probability. "The Middleman" tells the life story of an inventor who gave up his invention for the sake of his fellow-workers, hut who was robbed of fame, wealth, and family pride 'by the machinations of an exploiter of labour, who is the " middleman." incidentally his daughter's good name suffers calumny, and her father invents another valuable commodity, which put the exploiter entirely out of the running. Woven into the more serious side of the story is a pretty little love theme, which works out to an entirely satisfactory conclusion. The principal parts arc filled by Albert Chevalier and Jane Gail. The last episode of "The Purple Iris " serial is also being shown, and it provides a splendid climax to what has proved an enthralling story. An amusing two-reel comedy completes a good all-round programme, which will bo repeated again to-day.
