ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES
AN ELDERLY WOMAN'S DEATH,
Mrs Jano Clark, aged 69 years, residing at 130 Melbourne street, South Dunedin, died at the Hospital late last night, following injuries sustained through bo;ng thrown out ot a motor car, which capsized when descending tho Mount Cargill road about 6 o'clock yesterday afternoon. Tho extent of deceased's injuries when admitted to the institution appeared to bo bad contusion and shock. "It appears that the brakes failed to act when applied, the result being that, the car ran on to a bank and turned over.
While Hugh M'Haffie', a waterside worker, 53 years of age, belonging ft> Port Chalmers, was working on a steamer at the Dunedin wharf yesterday, ho fell down tho injuries to his shoulder that necessitated his removal to tho hospital.
Harry Bennett, a married man, 58 years of age. was admitted to the hospital yesterday afternoon suffering from injuries to his head. He was engaged painting the roof of Solwyn College when the ladder upon which hj whs standing slipped and precipitated him to the ground. He is employed by Messrs Andrew Lees and Co., and. lives at No 315 High.ga.te, Maori Hill.
