EVERYBODY'S THEATRE
Variety and genuine interest characterised thG new programme screened at Everybody's Theatre initially yesterday. The newseries, which ranks -with fhe best hitherto presented at this house of entertainment, should meet with the unreserved' approbation of patrons. Love of money and the dangers of too much devotion to moneymaking arc the themes of "The Almighty Dollar," the 1 World Film drama, which is the principal film- The cast is particularly strong, Frances Nelson, E. K. Lincoln, and June Elvidge playing the principal roles-. Two orphaned girls are left to face the world alone. One •of thorn is merry and light-hearted, and becomes infatuated with an unscrupulous doctor. However, rescued from a tremendous subway fire, she falls in love with and marries a young Westerner, who-j is rapidly becoming a power in tho world of finance. Then trouble develops. Absorbed in his. money-making, the young husband leaves his young wife a good deal to herself, and the ascendancy of the doctor again resumes its sway. Only by tho noble action of the elder sister is the young wife saved. Tho settings are splendid, and there arc several wonderful spectacular scenes, the fire in the subway being almost too vivid and realistic. The action all takes place in modern Ne l w York, and- is an illuminating picture of present-day conditions in that money mad city. Chapter eighteen of "The Iron Claw" serial provides an abundance of excitement, more so perhaps than previous, instalments, but the mystery of the " Mask's' identity is not elucidated. The remaining subjects include a Gazette and a good comedy. ■
