ALEXANDRA NOTES
(Fhom Oub Own Coheespondent.)
ALEXANDRA, November 27. Lately -this district seems to have been blessed with at least one good shower of rain each week, for as I am writing heavy rain is falling. This is the icauso of the district looking so well at present, and if we could only rely on one good steady shower every week I am confident in saying that no district in New Zealand would oxcel this. During the dry season the land has to bo irrigated, but this is not like Nature's rain. Residents of Dam-din who are looking for a place to spend their diri«imas holidays would do well to consider a visit to "suuny" Alexandra. It is worth while. The B.CV. F. R. B!uo. of Mahctio, and Irtt-o- of this parish, spent tho week end here, nnd preached to largo congregations both at Chdf; nnd Alexandra.
Another of our bravo men has given hie life for his country: Cornoral M. A. Flemincr. la-tf* town olerk of tho borough. Our district has pufFororl fairly heavily lately.
Grr.n'; preparation is being nndo at Matnkamii for a largo cnrnival and bazaar in aid of Rj?d Cross and Y.M.C.A. work, to be held about the end of December.
