P.W.M.U. CONFERENCE

The devotional meeting at the P.W.M.U. Conference was conducted on Saturday morning by Mrs M'Ca\v, the subject of her address being religion in the home.

Mies Borrie, secretary for Young People's Societies, in presenting the report of her department, urged the formation of a "Busy Bee Hive" in every congregation, with the object of interesting children in the work of the mission of the church.

The Rev. Jas. Aitken, editor of tho Daybreak, "tho children's Missionary Magazine, speaking to tho motion for the adoption of the report, warmly advocated the formation of young people's societies, and expressed his pleasure at the fact that the P.W.M.U. had decided to make a special feature of this work

The report was adopted. Miss Valentine presented the import from tho Girls' Auxiliary. This department showed a steady growth, seven new branches having been formed since last conference. —Adopted.

The report from tho Maori Mission Birthday Leaguo was submitted by tho general secretary, Miss Janet Wilson. The report stated that the number qf branches of this league was 144, and tho membership over 6000. The raised -by the leaguo were devoted to tho support of four deaconesses for work among the Maoris. — Adopted.

Reports on tho work for Home Missions (Mrs M'Kenzie), and Scattered Members' League (Mrs Gilmour), were also adopted. A deputation from the Dunedin Women's Christian Temperance Union waited upon tho conference to invito the co-operation of the members in the movement to secure certain 'reforms in regard to the nature of the kincma films provided for the entertainment of children. An appeal was also mado to members to use every endeavour to secure the abolition of the liquor traffic
