KARU TO OPOUKI. ' A northern exchange states that Messrs Reese Bros., of Ghristehurch, .have purchased the Union Company's steamer Karu ,* to replace the Opouri, which was -wrecked at Greymonth. The Union Company here advised yesterday that the steamer has not been sold, but. chartered for the service * concerned. The Karu is of 267 tons gross and 197 tons net, baili of Bessemer steel at Norway, in 190 L Her principal dimcn- ' sions are: —Length, 137 ft 6m; beam, 24ft; ' depth, 10ft 2in; and a deadweight capacity ( "of 342 tons of cargo.
