By-law Offences.—John Belsey, George Jeffs, and Alexander Dorward, for allowing horses to wander, were fined ss, with costs (7s). —For driving a motor car at a dangerous speed, Andrew M'Allcn was fined £2 and costs (7s). Committing Misohief. —A pica of "Guilty" was entered by Emily Josephs to this charge. It appeared that defendant broke a window, the property of Martha Mansoor, valued at 12s 6d. —Sub-inspector Mathieson said that the parties concerned were neighbours, who had quarrelled.—Defendant stated that tho cause of the breach was the fact that complainant had thrashed one of her children. Sho further stated that sho desired her children to be protected.— Defendant was convicted and ordered to defray the cost of the damage done. Maintenance. —Sadie Kammernischer made application for a maintenance order against her husband.—The parties were represented by Messrs Irwin and Hay respectively.—lt transpired that they had been separated, the husband being required to contribute £1 weekly towards complainant's maintenance for tho first year of separation and 25s weekly thereafter. On account of defendant's nationality he lost his position, and this, 'it was stated, accounted for his getting into arrears to tho extent of £15.—His Worship dismissed the information on the ground that defendant, through force of circumstances, could not comply with the original order.
