A very pleasant function took place in the Waipiata Hall, the object being to bid God-speed to Trooper W. Howell, who was home on final leave.' Friends asscmbed from Naseby, Kyeburn, Gimrnorb'.'-n. Patearoa. and Ranfurly. The chairman (Mr W. H. Tregonning), in presenting Trooper Howell with a roll of notes, spoke in eulogistic terms of his sterling' qualities. Other speakers were tho Revs. Mr Drake (Naseby), J. Campbell, and Mr A. J. Paterson.
