CIVIL LIST PENSIONS
Civil List pensions granted in 1916-17 include several interesting awards. Among the beneficiaries are the daugther of Charles Kingsley, the sister of Walter Pater; Mrs Stephen Phillips; Lady Russell, widow of Sir William Howard Russell, the distinguished war correspondent; and Miss Clementina Black (in recognition of hex services in the interests of women workers).
